Notice:
Carl began his ride and suffered serious injuries in the Jacksonville area. He is currently undergoing medical treatment there. Please pray for Carl and his wife, Ann, as they go through these trying times. The Legend Continues. Carl Sutter is getting ready for his ELEVENTH Annual Kiwanis Motorcycle Ride For Kids. Carl is an Octogenarian, and has raised an enormous amount of money for kids in SE Volusia. He is riding a 20+ year old motorcycle from New Smyrna Beach to Caribou, Maine which is a 4,000+ mile journey. Carl pays for all of his expenses including food, lodging, repairs, anything. Help Carl out by donating to his Herculean efforts. Does Carl have fun? You bet he does. Is Carl often in peril? You bet he is. PLEASE DONATE! This man is a hero and a champion for our children. Carl combines his love of motorcyle riding and his passion for raising money for the children and teachers of SouthEast Volusia. The link above contains a flyer for the ride, and it includes a donation form or you can go to PayPal (you don't need to be a member) and donate to NSBKiwanis@yahoo.com by using a debit or credit card. If you use PayPal, please let us know you are making the donation for Carl's Ride. The ANNUAL KIWANIS MOTORCYCLE RIDE FOR CHILDREN is a fund raising event solely organized by Carl Sutter. Carl is a lifelong motorcyclist and 20+ year member of Kiwanis. Requests for funds from our Kiwanis club to support community projects always exceeds available funds, so Carl decided to combine his love for long distance motorcycle riding with an opportunity he saw to raise money for kids. The community sponsors each of his rides with cents per mile or outright dollar donations. Carl and his wife give all of the proceeds to our Kiwanis club's Foundation, and he and his wife pay for all of their expenses: lodging, food, fuel, and repairs. Wow! So far, he has taken these rides as a solitary Rider, with his wife Ann in a chase car. Carl's rides are not without peril. He does not ride a new donated motorcycle. His motorcycle is over 20 years old and has 180,000 miles on it. He has frequent issues with inclement weather, breakdowns, hazards, spills and funny stories as he cruises through nature with all of its beauty. Carl publishes a daily blog that can be entertaining and horrifying, and is read by Kiwanis members, donors and fans. Here is a list of Carl's previous rides. After this year's ride, Carl will have ridden for kids over 60,000 miles and earned $61,000, all of which goes to the Kiwanis Foundation from which we distribute funds for SouthEast Volusia kids and teachers.
