The annual KIWANIS MOTORCYCLE RIDE FOR CHILDREN is a fund raising event solely organized by Carl (The Rider) and Ann (The Chase Car) Sutter. Carl is a lifelong motorcyclist and 20+ year member of Kiwanis. Requests for funds from our Kiwanis club to support community projects always exceeds available funds, so Carl decided to combine his love for long distance motorcycle riding with an opportunity he saw to raise money for kids. The community sponsors each of his rides with cents per mile or outright dollar donations. Carl and his wife give all of the proceeds to our Kiwanis club's Foundation, and he and his wife pay for all of their expenses: lodging, food, fuel, and repairs. Wow!
So far, he has taken these rides as a solitary Rider, with his wife Ann in a chase car. Carl's rides are not without peril. He does not ride a new donated motorcycle. He has frequent issues with inclement weather, breakdowns, hazards, spills and funny stories as he cruises through nature with all of its beauty. Carl publishes a daily blog that can be entertaining and horrifying, and is read by Kiwanis members, donors and fans.

KIWANIS COAST TO COAST RIDE FOR CHILDREN – THE ALASKAN ADVENTURE (2018)

KIWANIS COAST TO COAST RIDE FOR CHILDREN – FL PERIMETER RIDE (2017)

KIWANIS COAST TO COAST RIDE FOR CHILDREN – THE YUKON ADVENTURE (2016)
This was the Grand Daddy of all rides. This exciting ride of nearly 11,000 miles was a true test of endurance for both the Rider and his Iron Horse! An as yet unpublished book on this adventure details the trials and tribulations the Rider endured as well as the natural beauty and wild life encounters experienced in the rugged northwest on the Alaskan Highway en route to the Yukon Territory.
KIWANIS COAST TO COAST RIDE FOR CHILDREN – CAN AM (2015)
This ride began in New Smyrna Beach with a destination of Nova Scotia, Canada, and back. A total of 6,000+ miles. The unusually cold and wet weather made the ride on the Henry Cabot Trail particularly adventurous (this is an understatement).
KIWANIS COAST TO COAST RIDE FOR CHILDREN – POINT TO POINT (2014)
This 8,000+ mile trip went from Key West, Florida on the Atlantic Ocean to Aberdeen, Washington on the Pacific Ocean.
KIWANIS COAST TO COAST RIDE FOR CHILDREN (2013)
In June of 2013, the first of Carl's fundraising rides started at the Atlantic Ocean in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Carl journeyed to San Diego's Mission Beach on the Pacific Ocean, and back to New Smyrna Beach. The round trip ride was approximately 5,200 miles. This was an adventurous ride depicted in a non-fiction book published by Carl titled "An Iron Horse Sage".
The KIWANIS COAST TO COAST RIDES FOR CHILDREN has racked up 50,000 miles which is twice the circumference of the earth. The total dollar amount raised by Carl from the four rides is expected to exceed $50,000. Yes, Carl is a One-Man-Fundraising Machine. Carl and Ann are currently on their eighth adventure.
When his next ride commences, you can follow Carl's blog on our Kiwanis club's Facebook page for this event:
